Perhaps this page would be better served as a portion of the page for each hardware type? Instead of having one page telling how to load each of the different types of hardware, have each page about a type of hardware detail how to perform the initial load for it? I suppose we could have both, but I'm not sure whether it makes sense to have a general "how to load StarV3 for the first time" page, or to just have the page for each type of hardware describe how to perform the initial load for that hardware. Is there a substantial difference between initial loading for X86-PC vs X86-WRAP vs XSCALE-WAR? -- DLNoah 23:05, 15 January 2008 (EST)

I agree wholeheartedly. This page doesn't make much sense and is actually kind of confusing. A newbie might think a WAR board (or X4517 or whatever) needs a CF card. When I get a free moment to do some serious work on the wiki (I need to check over some stuff in the last half month or so for spelling/grammar/etc.) I will think about what to do with the information on this page and where it would fit better. My initial feeling is that it will probably result in the removal of this article and the removal of the link from the home page and something closer to what DLNoah just suggested. I've added warning. I've put this because the how-to for dd command is hard to find on forum. If I need it again, I will have it handy. I'm VERY short on time, and can not put more time in wiki editing (I do wish to do so). I agree that more comprehensive menu for this should be created, so please, if you have time, change it as you see fit. I hope to consolidate my workload in next few months, so I can do many more things, one of them being working on this wiki.DrLove73 15:20, 21 January 2008 (GMT)
I've moved it into your user-space for now, and hopefully we can come up with a way to put the dd command in for all users in a way that won't lead to possible confusion. There's a link to the page on your user page (apologies for editing your user page, but didn't want the firmware page to get lost on you). --DLNoah 18:33, 21 January 2008 (EST)
It's OK, no harm done.
